SunPan: Cooking Pan (Pot)

The lowest cost cooking container is made from used aluminum printing plates.  These have been cleaned to ensure that no printer's ink remains on the interior of the pot.  For a better, but more expensive pot, stamp or fabricate copper sheet or steel sheet metal.  The aluminum printing plate painted black makes a good top.  Screw a small block of wood to the top of the pan for a handle.

BE SURE THAT ALL TOPS OF ALL POTS ARE PAINTED BLACK TO ABSORB AND RETAIN THE SOLAR ENERGY.

Below are typical blanks with dimensions for the pot and cover.  A block of wood the same size of the interior of the pot can be used as a form when hand folding the sides.  The black internal lines in Figure 1 indicated the location of the folds; Figure 2 shows the sides folded up; Figure 3 shows the front and back folded up and excess corner metal; Figure 4 shows the excess metal on the corners folded back and riveted to the sides.  This excess metal should not be cut off.  If the corners are folded back the pot will not leak.
